My Best of Beauty – 2016

I feel that 2016 was the year that my love and passion for all things beauty so when I challenged myself to narrow it down to 10 items which were beauty game changers for me this year it was TOUGH!

But below are the products which I’ve reached for again and again because I know they work, I’ve repurchased (if they’ve ran out!) and have come with me on travels throughout the year. I truly believe that if I lost all my make-up I would buy these items first.

I’ve split them into categories to make it nice and simple.

Face Items

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation – £29.50

This was a base game changer for me this year, it really does everything you could want in a foundation. It is a full coverage foundation but it doesn’t feel like it when you’re wearing it and it looks like your skin but perfected, no cake face in sight! I also find it is forgiving on dry patches while keeping skin at bay in others. I have seen many reviews of this foundation and it seems to work on all skin types, it also comes in a vast number of shades.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer – £17.50

This is a concealer that packs a punch, it is full coverage but light and super easy to blend out under the eye and over any blemishes. It has a demi-matte finish which looks far more natural than any others I’ve tried.  I find even on no make-up days, a quick swish of this here and there blended out is enough to make me look put together and slightly less tired.

Too Faced – Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer – £25

As a super pale skinned soul I find this is the only bronzer that works with my skin tone which leaves me looking warmer without being orange or muddy. I love that it is matte so I can really dust this all over without looking like a disco ball! Oh and it smells like chocolate – divine. I have worn nothing else for the majority of the year and I am yet to hit pan which I think is pretty good going!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette – £41

This was a really tough one to narrow down as it’s felt that one of my biggest purchase areas this year was around eyeshadow palettes but this one I have found myself reaching for again and again no matter what others I have purchased. When I first saw the rich warm tones in this palette I was a little intimidated but the more I’ve played with it I am amazed at the breadth of the eye looks you can create. The shadows themselves are so smooth and buttery and easy to blend – I can’t express how much I love it!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper = £16

If you are looking for an eyeliner which will stay on all day, is jet black and easy to use then look no further! This liner is just to die for. I have taken a picture off the web because mine has just ran out and I’ve been trying to use up some alternatives I have in my collection and nothing compares to it. My original I had shipped from Sephora in the USA but the even better news now is you can get your hands on Kat Von D in Debenhams in the UK – BOOM!

March Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara –  £20

I am the kind of girl who really loves volumized lashes, I like it when they look thick, long and verging on the edge of clumpy without actually feeling stuck together and yuck and this mascara does exactly that. The wand is super big and thick which I love and it really makes my lashes look wow, there has been times when I’ve been wearing this that people have asked me if I’ve got extensions, it’s that good! I have also ran out of this (I ordered it at the same time as the Kat Von D liner above!) but it lasted around 8 months which is great going, normally I find mascaras of this type dry up super fast. You can now also get Marc Jacobs beauty at John Lewis and think I’ll be investigating more of the range over the coming months!

Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips – £16

Liquid Lips were huge in 2016, and I spent a large amount of it trying to find a formula that I loved. I wanted one that wasn’t super drying but lasted through eating and drinking and I found that in the Beauty Bakerie Lip Whips. I purchased one colour and the obsession started and I placed another order. The shade range is just gorgeous and I think they are a steal for the price! Honestly, these are my liquid lip pick of the year.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Kim K W – £23

This was a find later in the year but I had to include it because it hasn’t left my handbag since. This is the perfect peachy nude shade which is perfect for almost any look. I wanted to also include it as this was my rebel against all the matte lip love which took over 2016. Sometimes you just need a perfect, glossy nude lip – it’s like the make-up equivalent of a little black dress and this one is my go to.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm – £22

This has totally changed my evening skin care routine – there is nothing that takes make-up off like this wonder product. It has a thick texture which turns into an oil which melts off even the thickest layer of make-up and even waterproof mascara. I use this to remove my make-up and then go in for a second cleanse to make sure I am squeaky clean. I honestly don’t think I will ever move away from this product.

Pixi Glow Tonic – £18

This is a product I had seen lots about online and purchased purely to see if it lived up to the hype, and it did! This is a liquid exfoliator but I find it gentle enough to not bug my skin which at times can be a little sensitive. I use this in the evenings after I’ve cleansed, I sweep all over with a cotton pad and I find when I wake up in the morning my skin looks brighter and clearer. I use this around 3 times a week (any more I find my skin gets a tad dry!) and it has quickly become a staple in my routine.

So that is my best of beauty for 2016 – I would love to know what products have rocked your world last year – comment below!

Until next time x
