I definitely haven’t been purchasing as much beauty as I have done previously, but there have been a few new discoveries which have made their way into my everyday routines and have cemented themselves as favourites this month, so I thought I’d give you the lowdown!
First up for some skincare and this month I’ve been really enjoying the Elemis Pro Collagen cleansing balm. This super smooth balm has a slight citrus scent (it reminds me of lemon curd in looks and smell!) and I have been using this as an indulgent second cleanse in my routine. I find it leaves my skin feeling clean but not ‘coated’ but really comfortable and not stripped – I’ve got really dry skin at the moment (thanks pregnancy and colder weather) and this doesn’t leave me itching to slap on moisturiser straight away!
Next up is another product to help inject a much-needed dose of skin hydration and the biggest reason I am such a fan of this is that it’s the grand total of £3.99 for something that genuinely works! The Garnier Re-plumping Shot face mask is genius! It has a whole 30ml of serum you mix with the mask and slap it on! I find not only is this highly effective and leaves your skin feeling super hydrated it is also much easier to use than a lot of other tissue masks – it doesn’t slip and slide over your face for a start!
Now for the final beauty product is a fake tan – but not any fake tan – the Medium moose from Isle of Paradise! Firstly – this gives the most gorgeous natural tan colour it is divine, it also is so easy, it doesn’t streak and is a cinch to apply! I also find it doesn’t overly smell or transfer onto clothes which is amazing! Honestly – I have got so many half-used bottles of tans from other brands which are bigger ‘names’ and are more expensive and they pale in comparison to this. Hands down! If you’re wanting to keep that summer glow going into autumn – look no further!
Now onto the make-up! I’ve been really trying to use up some makeup items (more on my new challenge I am setting myself below!) and there are a few I’m picking up time and time again!
I have been a big liquid lipstick wearer for so long and a lover of matte lips but recently I have become totally obsessed with lip-gloss! In particular the Fenty Gloss Bomb, it is gorgeous! Now I was sceptical when I saw so many people rave about it I did think ‘what can be so good about a lip gloss’ but I have been silenced! It is incredibly flattering and isn’t sticky or feels overly heavy on the lips but makes them look super juicy! It’s now a staple in my bag and my go to for a low-key but glorious lip look!
Last month I also rediscovered my Beauty Pie subscription and I had racked up a healthy balance so treated myself to some affordable bits including the cream shadow stick in Taupe and it is gorgeous! It has been my go to if I want a quick all over the lid colour to make me look like I’ve made an effort but its super quick and easy! It is also really long lasting – I love it!
Next up is a face powder, I know, how exciting can a face powder be? Well, the Becca hydramist is something so different! It is an all over the face translucent powder that is a godsend for dry skinned girls because when you put it on your face it feels WET. No kidding – I often pull it out my handbag and make people try it because I am still in awe of it! It sets your make-up and gives an extra boost of hydration and leaves your skin feeling super soft!
Last up is a highlight – I’ve been wearing this even on no makeup days with a slick of mascara and I keep being told that my pregnancy glow is gorgeous – it is totally cheated! This is part of the Kathleen Lights and Colour Pop collab and is the Supershock highlighter in ‘On the Cusp’ – it is not quite gold or not quite silver toned and when applied with your fingers (which I’ve found is the best way) it is a super smooth glossy highlight which looks as good on a fully made up face and a naked face!
So that’s a full overview of what I’ve been loving on the beauty front – let me know if you’re loving this format for beauty content and what else you would like to see – and I would also love to know what you’ve been loving.
And if you love beauty content – then you might want to check out my Instagram (@megatron1002) as I have undertaken #projectthrowback where I had people on Instagram pick my make-up bag for the whole of October – one foundation, one concealer, one mascara, one eyeshadow palette, one face palette (bronzer, blush and highlighter!) and 3 lipsticks. Now there are a few items which I never switch up (powder, lip liner, liquid eyeliner and powder!) but everything else I normally have access to my giant stash!
The reason behind this is to encourage me to use up what I have – so all the products were items I purchased and maybe used once and then didn’t touch again! So, to see what’s in my October make-up bag head to my Instagram – I am also planning a IGTV video of a quick 10min make-up look using it all!
I will, of course, do a blog post at the end of October with my full thoughts on how I got on instead of my October beauty favourites!
